This engaging seminar will help you understand what's changed in aviation since you last took the controls and brush up on your essential knowledge.

Returning to active flying can be more straightforward than many lapsed pilots anticipate. This program is your opportunity to reconnect with fellow pilots and gain the confidence needed to get back in the air.

What to Expect at the Seminar

The AOPA Rusty Pilots program, developed in partnership with local flight training providers like Solid Ground Aviation, creates the best environment for getting you back into the general aviation community.

Here’s what you’ll gain:

• Knowledge Refresh: Understand key changes in aviation regulations, technology, and best practices.

• No FAA Checkride or Test: The seminar itself does not require an FAA checkride or test, focusing on ground instruction to help you prepare for your return to flight.

• Medical Requirements Discussion: The seminar will cover current medical requirements and options, including BasicMed, to help you understand what applies to your situation. For specific medical eligibility questions, always consult an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) or official FAA resources.

• Flight Review Credit: Attendees will receive two to three hours of ground instruction that can be applied towards the ground portion of a flight review. This is a valuable step towards regaining your currency.

Solid Ground Aviation is thrilled to host this AOPA Rusty Pilot seminar at our facility in Fort Meade, MD. Our location at Fort Meade, MD provides an ideal setting for pilots to re-engage with aviation.

As a simulator training center, Solid Ground Aviation utilizes an FAA-compliant Basic Aviation Training Device (BATD). Immediately following the seminar, simulators will be available for a free trial (pending client confirmation). Our simulators offer a controlled environment to practice procedures and scenarios, complementing your return to flight.
